Art, design and the fine activity of sitting comfortably, all in the name of charity… You’d be hard-pressed to think of a combination better than this one from the fine folks at IKEA Home Project.

The incentive asks a wide range of local artists to consider the theme of home, and apply that to recovering and redesigning IKEA’s 30-year-old iconic KLIPPAN sofa. The results will be exhibited at the Carriageworks before being sold via an online auction event. Best of all, all the proceeds of the auction will be given as a cash donation to the Victorian Bushfire Relief effort.

Curated by Elizabeth Stanton, participating artists include Del Kathryn Barton, Romance was Born, Mini Graff, Akira Isogowa, Cash Brown, the Glue Society and a whole host more.

The IKEA Home Project runs at the Carriageworks, Sydney from 28 July – 4 August, and the auction starts on Grays Online July 29.
