Palliate the Possession is an exhibition of new works by Tully Arnot, Neg Head and Charles Dennington opening 6.00pm this Wednesday the 14th at Serial Space in Chippendale.
Artists have been invited to interpret the concept of possession with implications for the theme, the form and the installation of works. They have been invited to break the rules and to hi-jack the work of others. Artists may end up subverting. Works may become possessed.
Palliate the Possession sees a space filled with haunted forms, overlapping and overbalancing others. Unsettling presences in an interconnected conglomeration of obsessive tangential loops.
The resulting works possess a common thread whereby the inside has broken out to create form or imagery. In other works the body is presented as a vessel hollowed out and membranous. A hollow container or a cell for a colony.
Tully Arnot presents inflatable sculpture and video works (including a giant set of intestines).
Neg Head presents numerous video works (including a head explosion).
Charles Dennington presents a large drawing of a head of a worm along with a curious arrangement of miniature sculpture to form a colony.
These are three of the most interesting artists practicing in Sydney at the moment. I know that’s a big call right? Go to the show and see for yourself.
