Big Painting
Kick off your Halloween festivities this Saturday afternoon by visiting this celebration of contemporary painting. Big Painting is the culmination of concurrent three-week residencies at Fraser Studios by Adam Cullen, Adam Norton, Mitch Cairns, Nigel Milsom and Ron Adams.
What’ll be most exciting about the show is that the three-week residencies mean that the artists have had an opportunity to create site-specific works, in which the dialogue between the artists will be reflected. Imagine hanging out in the semi-grungy warehouse environment of Fraser Studios for a few weeks, just kicking back, making art with four other dudes. It promises an interesting outcome.
Says the exhibition’s Facebook event page, “Adam Cullen stands as the link between them all by nature of his brutal analysis of the male condition. Adam Norton relentlessly searches for unexpected beauty in industrialisation, on large format canvas. Mitch Cairns uses monochromatic and dia-chromatic paintings on raw linen to finesse meaning and myth from the domestic. Nigel Milsom as developed a very muscular painterly language in rich, dark oil paint.
Ron Adams builds large, multi-panelled works with strong chromatic patterns and provocative text.”
The show will run until Sunday November 8.
Adam, Adam, Mitch, Nigel & Ron present Big Painting, opening 3pm – 6pm this Saturday 31 October, at Fraser Studios, 10 – 14 Kensington Street, Chippendale.
